Join us to get hands-on experience contributing to Open Source projects and interacting with Open Source communities, work closely with mentors, and build a portfolio that shows off your skills.
 

What is JOSA’s OpenLab?

OpenLab isn’t your regular internship. It’s a mentorship-driven, hands-on apprenticeship where you:

Learn and collaborate on Open Source projects (even by contributing to the open source projects that you love or to increase the impact of the Open Source tools that you are building).

Receive guidance from experienced mentors and build ties with local and global Open Source communities.

Build skills, confidence, and a portfolio that showcases your contributions.


Program Details

  • Duration: 3-6 months
  • Start: December 2025
  • Stipend: 350 JOD/month
  • Format: Hybrid (80% remote, 20% in-person)
  • Mentorship & Support: Dedicated mentor for guidance, code reviews, and feedback.
  • Progress Tracking: Bi-weekly updates, follow-up meetings, and a final reflection report.


What is expected from you?

Throughout this program, you will:

  • Contribute to Open Source projects.
  • Learn new technologies and tools.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and collaborative workflows.
  • Build a strong portfolio of contributions (pump up your GitHub profile!).


Who Can Apply?

You have to:

  • Be based in Jordan.
  • Be able to dedicate time to this program (not working full-time elsewhere).
  • Be committed to completing the duration of the program (minimum 3 months that can be extended to 6).
  • Have a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related fields.
